BEYOND LIMITS
Launched in 2013 as a program of the Stamford Peace Youth Foundation, Inc., the Beyond Limits Academic Program provides highly subsidized one-on-one tutoring and informal mentoring to Stamford Peace’s student-athletes and students attending our local public schools. Tutoring is typically conducted by Stamford Public School’s upperclassmen, including members of the National Honor Society, many of whom are referred by teachers, administrators, and other tutors. We also have a growing number of college students tutoring for us. Sessions are held at Stamford Peace’s Long Ridge Road headquarters, which includes a dedicated tutoring room and large classroom equipped with computers, school supplies, and other program materials. The facility also includes a lounge area with free Wi-Fi for parents, a kitchen area stocked with complementary snacks and beverages, and a fitness room. Beyond Limits also offers tutoring, typically on a group basis, in conjunction with our growing list of collaborators at off-site locations in Stamford.

Beyond Limits Academic Program highlights.
Since its inception, the Beyond Limits Academic Program has grown from approximately five middle and high school students being tutored to more than 40 tutors and over 200 student participants with a consistent pipeline of referrals. Tutoring sessions include a review of coursework, test preparation, and related academic projects, with a focus on helping students increase their understanding of math and science concepts. A core component of the Beyond Limits Academic Program is our frequent communication with participating parents, guardians and teachers in an academic triangulate, and as a vehicle to obtain program feedback. Families complete a Program Agreement that requires participants to provide us with academic Report Cards to track their academic achievements.
Beyond Limits is fully committed to making academic supports available to even more students and providing an environment free from distraction and negative peer influences so our students feel comfortable and confident in their ability to succeed. Moreover, with the myriad of private resources available to affluent families looking to get ahead in a more competitive academic and college preparatory environment, it is our responsibility to ensure that families of less affluence have those same opportunities available to them.
